About the Study

Why is this study being done?

This research is critical because older gay men have unique health needs. But, there is a lack of research on older gay men (even less with gay men of color) on how social environment, behavior, and biology interact to impact their health . The purpose of this study is to understand what contributes to health and wellbeing of gay men as they age.

What will the study be looking for?

We will examine the relationships among self-rated health, access to resources, social relationships, and health biomarkers and aging among African American, Asian American & Pacific Islander, Latino, and White gay men over the age of 50 years.

What will happen if I take part of this research study?

After receiving your study coupon and calling in for a telephone screening, eligible participants will do a 2-hour interview with a study interviewer. An interview consists of consent, a blood sample collection via finger prick and an online survey. Participants will recieve a stipend for their participation.

Who will this benefit?

Participation will not benefit participants directly.

The study results will help improve our understanding of the health needs of aging gay men. These results can inform future policy, advocacy, and service provision.

Participants will recieve a stipend for their participation.
